Natural Aphrodisiacs For Men – Will they Make You Horny as a Goat or Are they Just Bull?

What is an aphrodisiac? An aphrodisiac is, quite simply, something that increases your overall level of sexual desire. This could be a drink, a food, and herb or a variety of other substances.

Natural Aphrodisiacs For Men

Below you’ll find a list of 20 Natural Aphrodisiacs For Men , with the strangest ones included first. Before we get there, however, we’ll take a look at what aphrodisiacs really are.

It’s important to differentiate aphrodisiacs from other common sexual stimulants. For example, some people have fetishes for certain items and, though they might be a turn on, a pair of high heels is not an aphrodisiac. An aphrodisiac is, in most cases, considered to be something that you take or, in some few cases, something that simply sets the mood.

The Greatest Aphrodisiac

The greatest aphrodisiac, at least according to Henry Kissinger, is power. What is it about power that makes it such an irresistible aphrodisiac? There are many ways to look at it, but the important thing to keep in mind is that it illustrates that aphrodisiacs, in large part, are psychological.

Just as an example, music is generally considered to be an excellent aphrodisiac. In fact, some couples actually have a song that they associate with their relationship.

Choosing wedding music is an enormous undertaking for many couples. Music, in no small way, is an aphrodisiac, as is detailed below.

However, there’s no chemical involved, there’s no food or anything else involved. Even when there are chemicals that may have aphrodisiac qualities, there is also the potential that some of these aphrodisiacs are primarily psychological.

Think about it. A powerful person brings out caviar and expensive red wine. Are red wine and caviar considered to be aphrodisiacs?

Yes, by quite a few people. It’s the whole situation, however, – wealth, power, security, resources – that is implied that really make the situation one where there’s an aphrodisiac in play.

Other types of aphrodisiacs, however, may have specific effects on the body that could be beneficial toward boosting sex drive.

It's Good for You

Sex and healthy food are both good for you, in fact, and some healthy food may actually have aphrodisiac qualities. As you’ll see detailed below, asparagus has long been believed to have aphrodisiac qualities and many people still believe that having some together with a lover really puts them both in the mood. Why would that be?

Asparagus has nutrients in it that fuel the body and produce energy. An energetic, satisfied feeling is, obviously, great for getting in the mood and that’s what that aphrodisiac happens to be doing, at least according to current research.

As you go through the list, remember that some aphrodisiacs are simply good for you. Eating good food and drinking high quality tea and other beverages really can make a difference in how you feel and it just might make you feel a little bit sexy.

Understanding the Particulars

When you take a look at scientific evidence for aphrodisiacs, you’re going to find it pretty scanty. Keep in mind, however, that what’s being dealt with here is, by definition, the domain of Aphrodite,

Venus, love, sex, romance. These are the types of things that do not reduce easily to scientific formula, research and so forth. Of course, if you’re healthy and comfortable and have the right chemical cocktails flowing through your blood you just might feel quite a bit more inclined to get intimate.

There are, however, some particulars that can be used to differentiate the different types of aphrodisiacs on the market. In one sense, Viagra could be considered an aphrodisiac because, obviously, it makes men much better prepared to get busy. However, is it really an aphrodisiac?

In an aphrodisiac, it’s implied that the person’s mood changes. A drug like Viagra certainly brings on a change in a person’s physical state, but it doesn’t quite have the same implication that an aphrodisiac does.

Another particular to keep in mind is the fact that some supplements sold as aphrodisiacs may be things that you need to clear with your doctor before you take them.

There can be situations where the ingredient labels are a bit inappropriately vague, so you want to know from a reputable source what is in any aphrodisiac you’re taking.

One to Avoid

One of the most well known aphrodisiacs goes by the name Spanish Fly. This particular substance is actually derived from blister beetles and they can cause very dangerous reactions in people.

There’s a chance that anything sold under this name may be made of something else, but that doesn’t make it any safer and, in fact, if you don’t know what’s in the ingredients, buying it may be a very bad idea.

If you want something exotic, you can go for the first entry on our list, which is a rather strange one that hails from Korea but which is traditionally regarded to be a very effective aphrodisiac.

Like many other aphrodisiacs, you’ll find that it isn’t something you would think of immediately as making you feel in the mood, but there may be something behind it and, as long as you have no reason not to, it may be something worth experimenting with.

Starting out with some of the strangest, here is a list of 20 natural aphrodisiacs for men that you might get results from.

List of Natural Aphrodisiacs

  • Slime Eel: You can guess what it’s shaped like and that is probably part of the reason that this is considered to be an aphrodisiac in Korea. This is considered a way to really increase the sex drive and is taken very seriously as a natural way to get the mood set.
  • Sea Cucumber: In China, this rather unappetizing entrée is considered to be an aphrodisiac. Does it work? There’s little evidence that it does, but why not give it a shot if you can get your hands on some and want to see if there’s something behind it?
  • Coffee: Believe it or not, your morning cup of Joe may be doing more for you than helping you get to work on time, and you might just have an excuse to stay home for a little bit longer. Coffee gets your adrenaline pumping and gets your blood flowing, which may help you get in the mood and get in it now.
  • Maca: has actually been shown to have some significant benefits as far as sexual desire and performance goes. Psychology Today documented several different studies that showed that people given this plant reported good results. It grows in the Andes Mountains and could have very beneficial effects on men. At present, there are people saying that this is the best aphrodisiac ever and people saying that it’s nothing at all. The truth, however, may lay somewhere in between and it may be worth investigating.
  • Tongkat Ali: The root of this plant, which grows in Southeast Asia, is used for several different health benefits with which it is associasted. It is believed to be linked to testosterone production which, of course, could do quite a bit to increase male sex drive. Information is still a bit thin, however, but it might be worth trying if you’re looking for something to boost your desire.
  • Marzipan: Marzipan is served as a paste, and is based on almonds, which are also mentioned later in the list. This is a traditional aphrodisiac, which is said to have amour-inducing qualities when eaten. There are plenty of different recipes you can try to see if it works for you.
  • Honey: Honey, of course, is a synonym for one’s beloved and some people find it to be a bit enticing all on its own. Of course, it can be incorporated with many of the other foods on this list, making it a great compliment and, perhaps, boosting its effectiveness.
  • Asparagus: Asparagus has been associated with aphrodisiac properties for centuries. This actually comes down to basic science. Asparagus has a lot of vitamins, minerals and other nutrients in it and all of them can make you feel a bit sexier and, in fact, this plant can boost histamine production, which may make it easier for you to orgasm, as well as your partner.
  • Coconut: Aphrodisiacs are supposed to get your blood flowing, and that’s exactly what Coconut does: specifically, coconut water. It happens to contain electrolytes in the same levels as your blood and it gets your blood moving. If blood flow is your problem, this may help get things moving for you.
  • Dates: The date is considered to be an aphrodisiac and was oftentimes given as a gift from men to women. It was traditionally mixed with cinnamon and milk to get the aphrodisiac properties.
  • Eggs: Stress can kill any sort of sexual desire. Fortunately, eggs have a lot of B6 and B5 in them, and both of those can help to fight stress. Consider having a dish with eggs in it if you need to relax to get into the mood and are having a hard time.
